How to Submit a Proposal – Pre-OIP Phase Explained

Introducing the Pre-OIP Phase: A Clearer Path for Community Ideas

The first step in bringing any idea to life in ODOS DAO is to share it with the community. The forum is where conversations start. Here, contributors can explore new concepts, receive feedback, and understand how their idea fits into the broader direction of the DAO.

To make this process more open, collaborative, and efficient, we’re introducing the Pre-OIP Phase — ODOS DAO’s version of a temperature check.

This phase gives early-stage proposals a chance to receive community feedback, go through a feasibility review, and iterate before moving on to formal voting. It’s designed to help contributors shape stronger proposals while giving the DAO enough context to assess alignment and viability early on.

Pre-OIP Workflow

1. Idea Posted in the Forum (Day 0)

Start by creating a post in the Governance Forum and tagging it with #Pre-OIP to indicate it’s an early-stage idea. This signals to the community that the proposal is exploratory and open to feedback.

To make it easier for others to follow and contribute meaningfully, we ask that you use the following structure when posting:

:memo: Pre-OIP Idea Template

Title: Short descriptive name of the idea.

Summary: What are you proposing in 2–3 sentences?

How Will This Proposal Benefit ODOS DAO?

  • Why is it important?
  • Will this help increase Odos dApp usage and adoption?
  • Will this support the Loyalty Program’s growth or impact token utility?
  • (If relevant, include quantifiable metrics or examples.)

Proposed Solution:

  • Explain how the proposal would work, step-by-step.
  • List any assumptions or context needed.
  • What technical or operational changes would be required?

Open Questions / Assumptions:

  • What kind of feedback or input are you seeking from the DAO Lead, DevCo, or community?

2. Community Feedback (Days 1–5)

Once your idea is live, the community has 5 days to ask questions, share suggestions, challenge assumptions, and help you refine the proposal. This is a key moment to gather input and build early support.

3. Feasibility Review (Days 5–12)

If your proposal meets the engagement thresholds, the Head of DAO will coordinate with DevCo (if needed) and publish a Feasibility Report within this period. The report will assess:

  • Is the proposal technically feasible?
  • Does it align with the DAO’s goals?
  • Are there any blockers or major risks?

This step ensures that proposals moving forward are realistic and aligned with ODOS DAO priorities. The review will be posted in the same forum thread for full transparency.

4. What Happens Next

Once the Feasibility Report is posted:

:white_check_mark: Feasible: You’re invited to submit a formal OIP (Odos Improvement Proposal) and move to Snapshot for voting.

:hammer_and_wrench: Needs Revisions: You’ll have time to revise your idea. The revised version should be posted between Days 12–20, followed by community review (Days 20–25) and a final Feasibility Report (Days 25–30).

:cross_mark: Not Feasible: The thread will be marked “Closed – Not Feasible.” You’re welcome to revisit and rework the idea in the future.

This process is now live and applies to all new proposals moving forward. It’s simple, structured, and built to help contributors bring strong ideas to life.
